Operations Team Leader

Responsibilities*

Team Development
  • Ensure all team members provide superior customer service to all guests that visit Risen.
  • Lead by example by continually demonstrating best practices to fellow team members and providing constructive feedback on ways they can improve.
  • Ensure all team members follow opening, closing, and daily protocols exactly as prescribed.
  • Evaluate and discipline team members and make employment and/or termination recommendations to RBB leadership. Final hiring and firing decisions are made by RBB leadership.
  • Conduct interviews with potential team members and exit-interviews with team members departing.
  • Assist in the training of all front and back of house on day-to-day operations, food preparation/packaging, and so on to ensure the safe operation of kitchen equipment and utensils and the proper handling of food, heavy items and hazardous materials.
  • Assist RBB leadership in recruiting based on the needs of the business.
 
Operations
  • Manage Point-of-Sale (POS) to take guest orders for bakery and breakfast items, in-store, over the phone, as well as online.
  • Maintain bakery/retail product inventory counts and update the system to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist with cleaning of work environments and ensuring that team members follow the restaurant’s cleaning, sanitation and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Manage ingredient and general supply inventory by conducting daily & weekly inventory checks. Own the Risen shopping list and make sure it’s complete/accurate prior to the weekly deadline.
  • Continually collaborate with RBB leadership on menu items, pricing, portion sizes, and ingredient costs. Be a proactive contributor of ideas on ways to improve the bottom line.
  • Count beginning-of-day and end-of-day cash drawer levels and input values into system.
  • Be available and maintain open communication with all team members, including being available outside of scheduled shifts in case of emergency.
  • Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries.
  • Supervise food preparation and ensure that it is delivered in a safe and timely manner and customers are satisfied. 
  • Lead the charge in maintaining safety and food quality standards company-wide.
  • Ensure all food items and products are stored, prepared and served based on the recipe, preparation and portion standards.
  • Lead the charge of food donations to local food shelters. Keep a vigilant eye on operational costs and continually identify ways to reduce waste.
  • Continually monitor equipment to ensure it is cleaned/maintained properly, as well as in operating condition. Notify RBB leadership immediately if equipment is in need of repair and assist in the coordination of repair appointments as needed.
  • Participate in planning/strategy meetings with RBB leadership and assemble reports as requested.
 
Marketing
  • Collaborate with RBB leadership on marketing strategies, special events, daily/weekly specials and more.
  • Assist with RBB social media as requested.
  • Assist in local community marketing events.
  • Assist in the coordination of catering and special in-house events.
  • Contact local businesses/organizations for catering and special order opportunities.
  • Manage special projects as assigned by RBB leadership.
 
Guest Experience
  • Manage customer complaint follow-ups and other customer follow-ups as needed.
  • Engage with guests to get feedback on product quality and service levels.

Line Cook

Responsibilities*

  • Assist with the daily setup of the kitchen stations.
  • Prepare a variety of breakfast/brunch food items.
  • Plate prepared foods based on restaurant standards.
  • Collaborate with servers to ensure that orders are completed per the guest request and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate continually with department heads and RBB leadership on menu items, pricing, portion sizes, and ingredient costs. Be a proactive contributor of ideas on ways to improve the bottom line.
  • Communicate openly with department heads on current on-hand ingredient and general supply inventory levels.
  • Ensure all food items and products are stored, prepared and served based on the recipe, preparation and portion standards.
  • Keep a keen eye on use-by dates and strictly adhere to FIFO to reduce waste.
  • Assist with cleaning of work environments (and cooking utensils) by following the restaurant’s cleaning, sanitation and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Notify department heads if equipment is in need of repair.
  • Assist in the cooking required for catering, special in-house events, etc.
  • Assist with supplier ordering and grocery shopping as requested.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries.

Guest Experience Associate

  • Greet all incoming guests with a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Manage Point-of-Sale (POS) to take guest orders for bakery and breakfast items, in-store as well as over the phone.
  • Cleaning up guest dishes and bussing tables after guests finish their meal.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions, provide the appropriate change to guests.
  • Assist with the beginning-of-day setup and end-of-day clean up of the retail/checkout areas and dining area.
  • Handle intake of custom orders for bakery.
  • Plate and/or package (to-go) customer orders.
  • Collaborate with cooks and bakers to ensure that orders are completed per the customer request and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate continually with department heads and RBB leadership on menu items, pricing, portion sizes, and ingredient costs. Be a proactive contributor of ideas on ways to improve the bottom line.
  • Communicate openly with department heads on current on-hand ingredient and general supply inventory levels.
  • Ensure all food items and products are properly stored at the end of each day.
    Keep a keen eye on use-by dates and strictly adhere to FIFO to reduce waste.
  • Continuously contribute to the cleaning/maintaining of work environments, dishes, tables, bathrooms, and countertops by following the restaurant’s cleaning, sanitation and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Assist with restocking supplies and rolling silverware.
  • Notify department heads if equipment is in need of repair.
  • Assisting bakers and cooks with food preparation as needed.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries.
  • Assisting with various tasks and projects as assigned.

Baker

Risen Breakfast & Bakery (RBB) is a new restaurant/bakery located in downtown Mason, Michigan. RBB is currently only open for to-go baked goods on the weekends but plans on opening fully (to include its dine-in breakfast/brunch service) in the Spring of 2023. If you are looking for a chance to start on the ground floor of an exciting, local establishment, we’d love to chat with you!

This posting is for the role of Baker.


Responsibilities*

  • Assist with the daily setup of the bakery stations.
  • Prepare a variety of fresh baked goods and treats, including (but not limited to), things like: cookies, muffins, scones, breads, pies, cakes, cupcakes, tarts, lemon bars, brownies, cinnamon rolls, quiches, cheesecakes, etc.
  • Make sure all bakery displays are continually stocked in a professional, appetizing way. Continually monitor use-by dates of items and pull any items that are expired or nearing expiration (that could be donated).
  • Collaborate with department heads and RBB leadership on new bakery items to introduce, pricing, portion sizes, and ingredient costs. Be a proactive contributor of ideas on ways to improve the bottom line.
  • Communicate openly with department heads on current on-hand ingredient and general supply inventory levels.
  • Ensure all bakery items and products are stored, prepared and served based on the recipe, preparation and portion standards.
  • Ensure all baked goods are rotated via the FIFO method and utilize remaining batches whenever possible. Proactively think of ways to use leftover baked goods (that are still safe/edible) for new bakery items to reduce overall waste.
  • Assist with cleaning of work environments and bakery equipment by following Risen’s cleaning, sanitation and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Notify department heads if equipment is in need of repair.
  • Assist in the baking required for catering, special in-house events, and custom orders.

  • Baking would primarily take place outside of Risen’s dine-in hours (tentatively 6am-2pm) so shifts will likely be between 3pm-12am or 12am-5:30am. This is TBD.

Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, but also working alone at times
  • At least 2 years of baking experience, preferrably in a real bakery setting

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. minimum
